The Dead and the Gone (Life As We Knew It, Book 2)
This companion novel to Life As We Knew It examines the same events of LAWKI but takes place in the crowded Manhattan section of New York City. This time, we live the events through a Puerto-Rican teen named Alex Morales.
After his parents disappear in the aftermath of devastating tidal waves, Alex must become the caretaker and provider for his two sisters in a city that has been crippled by the recent disasters. As food and supplies continue to dwindle, Alex struggles to take care of his sisters while continuing to be a decent person.
The Dead and the Gone is just as charged and gripping as LAWKI but much more graphic in its descriptions and content. Since the Morales live in a crowded city, the situation is much more dire and gruesome. Ages 12 and up
