Aquaman: Deepwater Disaster

When a storm hits Aquaman’s underwater kingdom in the Gulf of Mexico, an oil rig is damaged.   The oil rig explodes and thousands of gallons of oil start spilling in to the water. He suspects that the villain Black Manta is responsible for the disaster, but finds out this isn’t true. Aquaman and Black Mantra must work together to save the ocean waters from the oily disaster - will they be able to work together and save the sea?

This book uses recent events and creates a story that readers can relate to. It’s complete with a glossary, discussion questions, and writing prompts. This would be an excellent book for reluctant readers and superhero fans. Possible curricular links include ecosystems/habitats, animals, and the environment.   49 pages
