Wildfire Run

With the floor shifting strangely under his feet, Luke, son of the President of the United States, is trying to lower a feather to tickle the face of his friend, Theo, who is still sound asleep. It's 6:45am at Camp David and an earthquake has just struck Missouri with tremors reaching this far east into Maryland. The President will have to leave and Luke, Theo and the daughter of the new assistant chef, Callie, are about to find themselves trapped in a rapidly spreading forest fire with several Secret Service agents unconscious and wounded. Can they escape in time? Will they be able to move the agents to safety? The suspense builds as the fire spreads and the earthquake damages impair the oft-tested defense systems. It's three kids against some pretty tough odds. Written for eight and nine year olds with a sense of adventure, the storyline doesn't quite live up to the intensity of the bookcover. 260 pages Ages 8-10
