It's moving day and Freddy is watching all the family possessions come parading off the van and into the new house. Out in the yard he looks around and wonders who will be his friend? Walking down the street he meets the policeman, the mailman and the street cleaner. They will all be his friend but none of them has time to play. Freddy marches on and finds a park filled with kids playing ball. No one pays any attention to Freddy, so he happily starts playing his own game and throws his ball up into the air catching it time and time again. In fact, he throws that ball so high and catches it on the return that the other guys take notice and a whole crowd of them comes over to invite him to join their game. Slightly dated black and white illustrations have a comic appeal and the universal feeling of being the new kid will connect with all. 32 pages An I Can Read Book Ages 5-7
