Five young monks are crammed in terra cotta water barrels listening and waiting to see if they are going to need to use their special fighting skills against the dangerous foe running rampant in the Cangzhen Temple outside.  Master Fu has taught them well, giving each boy a unique fighting style and name to match and it is he who has directed them to hide and wait.

Outside the barrels the enemy, their older brother, sixteen-year-old Ying, is on a killing rampage that will leave monk after monk lying dead and defeated.  Will anyone survive?  Will Ying get the ancient scrolls he has come for?  Will he discover the five young monks and if he does, will he let them live?

This is the story of the five monks ... temple brothers...each of whom has a special skill and a special magical connection.  Fu known as Tiger, Maloa Known as Monkey, Seh known as Snake, Hok known as Crane and Long, known as Dragon,  are loyal to each other and to the task they have before them.   Raised in the Temple by the grandmaster, they have a quest and it begins here with Tiger's story as he is determined to live up to the standards of what is expected of him and to solve the mystery of their past.
