Jerry Spinelli’s prequel to Fourth Grade Rats has the main character George “Suds” Morton competing to receive the first Halo in his class. Their new teacher, Mrs. Simms, has come up with a great behavior plan for her class. Each week the best behaved student will be the boss angel of the week and will get to wear a halo. The students strive to be the first, but being good, kind and helpful in school and out can be pretty stressful for an 8 year old. Can Suds do it?
A good read aloud for the beginning of the school year.
