The Kneebone Boy
The Kneebone Boy revolves around the events befalling of the three
Hardscrabble children, Otto, Lucia and Max, each of whom is a little eccentric.
Through a charming unidentified narrator, we learn of the children’s missing
mother and oft-absent artist father. In need of a caregiver, the children are
sent to a cousin in London. When they find the cousin absent, the resourceful
children make their way to the seaside town of a quirky aunt who lives in a
miniature castle and that’s where the fun begins! The children find themselves
surrounded by mystery, legend and adventure and begin to discover that
nothing is as it first appears.
The chapters in this book are of good length and the story moves along
quite well. It would make a good read-to-the-class book or a read-alone book. 304 pages Ages 9-13
