Stranded at Plimoth Plantation 1626

Thirteen year old Christopher Sears is a Pilgrim boy who set out from London, England for Jamestown in 1626. The ship crashed on the Massachusetts coast instead and now Christopher finds himself in Plimoth Colony. He is an orphan. What was life like in the colonies? What was life like for an orphaned thirteen-year-old boy? Written in journal format, the entries reveal all facets of the Colonial life. The political hierarchy, the food they must provide for themselves, the interactions with the Indians are all part of everyday life. It's winter and it's very cold. The militia are drilling and neighbors are put into the stocks for arguing in their family. The birth of a new baby is celebrated by the community. This is a careful, detailed picture of the hardships and triumphs of the times.
