Can't get to the zoo today? That's okay, the zoo is coming to you! Photographer Steve Grubman with the help of Jill Davis has photographed a collection of children's favorite animals and brought us up close and personal with everyone of them. The images draw you in and will fascinate and delight young children as they turn the page to see who is the next animal star. Brief but definitely child-friendly text-bites accompany each animal to educate us a bit about who we're visiting. Steve has made a comment about what it was like to work with these critters for each photographic shoot. The photographs are the wonder of this book and the information definitely takes second billing. For elementary readers who like to gather facts and love to experience the animal, this is a good choice. Animals include aardvarks, grizzly bears, lions, tigers, elephants, alligators, kangaroos, coatis, zebras and more. I learned how to tell the difference between alligators and crocodiles and how to pronounce coatimundi. You're never too old to learn!
