One Day and One Amazing Morning on Orange Street

One Day and One Amazing Morning on Orange Street

Who buried the heart-shaped stone under the orange tree? Ruff dug it up during the girls’ club meeting, beneath the shade of the huge tree, just before the boys came over. Is it magic, like Robert’s tricks? Can it help them save the fallen baby bird?

Who put that orange cone on the street in front of the tree in its vacant lot? Now Bunny/Bonita has another thing to worry about, as her mother leaves on a business trip and Ali’s little brother still hasn’t recovered from his operation and Leandra is upset about something.

Who is the stranger walking down Orange Street in the hot summer sun? Miss Snoops thinks he looks familiar, but she forgets so much these days…The kids worry that he might be a dognapper, but he tells them stories of long-ago children who also loved their orange tree.

In a small LA neighborhood, the old orange tree gives shade and sweet fruit and comfort to the families who live near it during two eventful days on Orange Street, days that they’ll always remember.
