Sometimes we feel big distances separating us from other people because of their religion, their language, their food or what they believe in. Sometimes we feel distance separating us from the people we love because they are far from us too. This is the story of a young boy whose grandfather lives in Iran. This boy has never seen his grandfather. One day the boy receives a package in the mail and it is from his grandfather. Inside the package is an empty bottle but actually there is a message waiting there. The wind picks the boy up and whisks him across the great divide. Over the ocean and high above the mountains the boy blows. He lands in the arms of his Baba Bazorg. Together, finally. Now they share question after question to find out all about each other. "Do you have a pet slug?" "Can you see the moon when you go to sleep?" Then, together at the top of the highest mountain, they create a recipe for togetherness and connection out of love and the wind and they store it reassuringly in the bottle for the next time they might need to be close. This is an exotically illustrated book with Eastern shapes and colors. Great story for teaching children about relationships with family and those in the world around them who might seem "far" away. 32 pages Ages 5-9
