A young Nbedele girl of South Africa is greeting us and welcoming us to her world and introducing us to her best friend, a chicken. Chickens are important because you can use a chicken feather to paint your house brightly colored patterns. Chickens are important because you can tell them your secrets and they will never reveal them to anyone else. On our tour through the village we see families dressed in neck and leg rings and brightly colored bead cloths. We see the boldly decorated painted houses with their distinctive geometric designs. We experience the joy of living in this village that is so very different from the places we call home. Ages 5-8 48 pages
