Martin Bridge: Ready For Takeoff

Martin Bridge has three challenges in the three stories in this wonderful book that's perfect for those guys who are looking for something with a bit of substance done with a light hand. First, he has to deal with his slightly intimidating, always crabby bus driver. It can be hard to get along with some people especially when they're grown ups. But, if you do something nice for someone it can really open up some wonderful possibilities. Then, Martin is pet-sitting for a neighbor's hamster and it dies. Oh boy but it's even worse when the parents come home and decide they're going to buy a replacement before their child finds out. Martin really doesn't like that idea. In the third story, Martin shares his great idea for decorating his rocket ship with his friend only to have that friend take his idea for his own. These problems really ring true for kids and it's wonderful to see Martin work his way through them and offer some learning experiences for readers while they are enjoying the personality of their young hero. 120 pages
