Three little Tasmanian devil pups are waiting for their mum to come back from her foraging. They love the things she brings back for them. Just like Sarah, Percy and Bill in Martin Waddell's Owl Babies, these three wait and wait and wait. But these three decide to go off on their own adventure. They wander off into the landscape of Australia and find themselves in various states of trouble. Then, together they hear the sound of Mum. She's caught in a cage. They throw their combined strengths into getting that cage open so Mum can escape. It's a bit of a wild ride for Mum but they are all one big happy family in the end. This is a wonderful glimpse of Tasmanian devils, Australia and the universal love of Mum. Also, a great lesson about working as a team for success. The illustrations are fabulous. 40 pages Ages 4-8
