't we be bestie corns

Best friends - they make life really special.  When a new unicorn comes to Kevin's school he can't wait to meet him and become bestie-corns. Easy peasy?  Nope.

You know sometimes you don't like to do the same thing as the other unicorns.  Sometimes you don't like to drink the same thing as other unicorns -  clam juice anyone?

Sometimes you are just plain old different from each other.  What does that mean?  What can you do?

Kevin the Wonder Unicorn figures it all out and all we have to do is sit back and watch him in action.  After all, what's better than spending a little time with a pink-maned unicorn named Kevin?  He may not look like us but he sure is fun to hang out with.

But not all friendships are a match made in heaven and that’s exactly what Jessika von Innerebner’s latest picture book, Kevin the Unicorn: Why Can’t We Be Bestie-corns, aims to teach kids!

When a new unicorn moves in next door, Kevin is certain he's about to make a new magically awesome best friend. After all, everyone loves unicorns! But it turns out Eric loves scary movies (eek!) and clam juice (blech!) and he doesn't like camping or skateboarding or any of the activities Kevin adores. In fact, apart from his sparkly mane and radiant horn, Eric doesn't really like to do any of the things Kevin likes to do. Could it be that he and Eric aren't destined to be bestie-corns??

In her signature bright and bold style, Jessika von Innerebner turns the instantaneous friendship trope on its heads to show the difference between being friends and friendly, and to reassure kids that it’s OK to not be best friends with every kid they meet.---from the publisher
