When Iva was exactly fifty paces from the stream, she grasped the pick by the end of the handle and swung it over her head...and toppled over backward. In the summer after third grade, Iva Honeycutt sets out to discover the buried treasure on General Braddock, following a map left her by her great-grandfather. But things in Uncertain, Virginia have changed since the revolutionary war, and it’s likely that the treasure may be buried under the town dump. Iva needs help and it looks like she’s stuck with her double first cousin Heaven, who is anything but Heavenly in Iva’s estimation. Iva is a loveable character as she struggles to make a name for herself and come to terms with her unique family.
