Horse Song: The Naddam of Mongolia

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel to Mongolia? Have you heard of the Naadam, the Mongolian summer festival? Child jockeys are gathering to compete for honor, glory and prizes in the big race. This is the story of one rider, Tamir. The Lewin’s went to Mongolia and slept in a “ger” and marveled at the Mongolian people and their amazing riding skills. They described to me watching the horses ride off from the camp and disappear over the horizon. Then after a long wait, a speck appeared in the distance and as the speck got closer it got larger and turned into the riders returning. The artwork in this book is just amazing. You can see Ted’s fabulous paintings with the magical light in them that just take you to Mongolia. Then, there are Betsy’s witty images that reach out of the page with such personality.
