Grounded

"I am alive today because I was grounded." Daralynn’s father and brother and sister died in a plane crash. She would have been on the plane if she hadn’t been grounded for sneaking off to go fishing. Now she has to get on with the process of living while her mother is struggling with her grief. Things get particularly rough when Daralynn sides with her “wild” aunt over her mother And a stranger threatens to upset the balance in their small Missouri town. For readers, grounded means more than just being punished; it comes to mean being stable and rooted in one place, and sensible. Although this book will not fly off the shelves, in the hands of the right reader, it can be a blessing and an awakening. Recommended by Alice Cyphers, Librarian, Pennsylvania, USA
