Cinderella

Ruth Sanderson's retelling of the Cinderella story very successfully borrows elements from both the Grimm brothers and Charles Perrault.  The gory details have been omitted from the former, and the wooden language has been changed to a more pleasing, readable style.  The result is a beautiful story that readers will really enjoy. But it is the illustrations that take center stage here.  The luminous art work literally glows.  The reader actually feels present in every scene.  Any library catering to aficionados of "princess books" will want to have more than one copy of this masterpiece on its shelves.  32 pages.  Ages 5-8
