A sheep farmer out with his flock on a snowy spring day finds an abandoned lamb alone and frightened. He takes it home and bottle feeds it. The family names the lamb Charlie and they care for him since no ewe can be found. The farmer's sheepdog, Tess, quickly becomes a mother to the little fellow and eventually as the lamb grows up, the two become great friends and Tess teaches Charlie, how to be a dog... a sheepdog to be exact. The day finally comes when Charlie is too big to stay with his human family and has to return to the fields with the other sheep. There on a snowy night Charlie uses everything Tess has taught him when the snow begins to fall and no shepherd or sheepdog come to rescue the flock. A story to warm the heart on a cold winter day.
