Her beautiful voice attracts a lot of attention and some money for the family coffers when she sings in the subway, but thirteen year old Kira doesn't want to be the center of attention. She joins the chorus at her new school and makes two friends. One is Jake who has a really bad stuttering problem and the other is Eugene who works at his parents store and has a natural gift for comedy.
