Find The Sun

From the creator of Wolfboy comes a spectacularly illustrated, whimsical story about finding courage in yourself.

Take a leap and find the sun . . .

Eddie doesn't like Mondays. He'd rather burrow under the covers than face the day.

Then an unexpected friend arrives to take him on a journey.

Eddie is afraid, but that's okay, journeys can sometimes be frightening. Step by step Eddie grows braver. Before long, he understands . . .

Through any storm, you can always find the sun.---from the publisher

This one is so right to the heart for so many of our kids and adults, too.

Ever wake up on a Monday morning and wish it wouldn't find you? That's exactly what happens to Eddie and exactly how he feels when he wakes up on this and every other Monday morning. But you know it turns out that's where a little bit of magic can change the whole world... and you.

Eddie is about to go (with his trusty stuffed rabbit) on a journey into... yes, into a big storm.  We're talking rumbling and wind and rain and ... well, you get the idea.

Okay, so yes it's a metaphor. But  it's a beaut. There's a moment here when Eddie reaches out  and takes Rabbit's hand and they go to find the sun. Not just to look for the sun... they go to find the sun.

The journey is perilous. Eddie visits many of his feelings of fear and we recognize those feelings - they are the ones that make us want to stay in bed on Monday morning.  Yep, those feelings.

Part of the magic here is the artwork which is delivering us from page to page.  This guy knows art- does it for Disney- and he knows how to tell a story and deliver an idea and a sense of a situation through his illustrations.  They are special.

Stick with Eddie and Rabbit and you will find yourself coming out the other side with an amazing new gift growing inside of you that you will never ever lose.  Every child deserves to discover this gift - some don't get it at home.

Awesome book for kids who worry and are afraid. Awesome book for every child.   Awesome book for many adults who hate Mondays and most new experiences.

This one belongs in every classroom for teachers to read aloud and in every counseling office.  It could be a door opener just as Jacqueline Woodson's HARBOR ME showed that everyone has a story.  Maybe, just maybe, everyone has a little bit - or more than a little bit - of that fear on Monday and on a few other days too.

Brilliant!
