This tender story of friendship and overcoming fears is heartwarming and funny. Even if their fears are different, preschoolers will definitely identify with Squish as he identifies his phobias and then finds the courage to face them. Battersby effectively uses bold and bright colors in her collage artwork. She expertly uses background colors to set the mood and white space as a sharp contrast.
