Bat Boy and His Violin, The

It's 1948, a time of change in the world of baseball, and Papa manages the worst team in the Negro National Baseball League. Papa has another concern in his life and that is his son, Reginald. Reginald loves to play the violin. He has no interest in baseball. Papa wants to change his son and drafts him as his team's batboy. Reginald joins the clubhouse and brings his love and talent with the violin with him. As he plays beautifully for them, the baseball team is inspired to play stronger on the field. The world around them is changing with some white leagues becoming integrated and some still resisting. The relationship between father and son is evolving as well. This is a beautiful book about fathers and sons and change and hope and acceptance.
