One night Possum is sitting out under a tree looking at the stars when he sees a spaceship crash to Earth. He slowly makes his way over to the spacecraft and hides behind a tree. Tentatively he tries to talk with the space creature who is hiding behind another tree. Gradually they make friends ... as Possum says, "Where are you?" The other voice says, "I am far away." "Are you here?" "No I am not here." If they could get close to each other, maybe they could be friends. That is how Alien met Possum and they became very good friends.
In the next two chapters Possum teaches Alien all about sniffing trash (and eating trash cans) and Alien reads Possum a bedtime story and then likes it so much he eats it. Humor and friendship and acceptance all rolled into one highly entertaining early reader. 48 pages Ages 4-8
