| In 1889 Eugene W. Field, called "the children's poet," published this poem. It has been read at bedtime and at other times by countless families since. Three little children float off into the sky in their wooden shoe. The stars are the fish in their sea. They cast their nets and then float back home. Two of the little ones are eyes and the third is the nose. The shoe is their bed. The picture is one of a child tucked safely into his/her bed ready to sail off to dreamland surrounded by a safe, warm, loving world. Share it with your child. A book and a hug. |
