Oh Wow! You expect nothing less from Douglas Wood but he really has given us a great gift with this lovely book. Begin with the question of "where does the sunrise begin?" You might think you have an answer right away. But as we explore the tops of mountains where you might first see the glimpse of sunlight or down in the marshes or on the glassy surface of a lake the response comes back to us "no" that is not where the sunrise begins. Poetically, we search on seeking that elusive sunlight in Africa, the Far East, the Middle East and even to our own native land. Each place has a reason why we might suspect the sunrise touches it first, but at last, after a journey that takes us around the world from top to bottom, we find just where that special, mysterious beginning takes place. I'll let you read the book to find it. The rosy glow of dawn saturates each double spread. Glorious for the eyes and for the spirit. 40 pages Ages 5-9
