“What would Spock do?” is the question as 7th grade begins and Marley faces the same bullies, the same invisibility in the halls, the same loneliness. Luckily, he has his buddies in A/V Club and their eternal argument over Star Trek versus Star Wars, and his home in the Rialto Theater, where dad is pleased when 10 people show up for a classic movie on the silver screen and his mom doesn’t let her blindness get in the way of her golfing.
He’s not so sure about Max, the new kid in A/V Club who is a Batman fan (like Batman is real…) or his super-cheery history teacher who raps and hands out warm fuzzies (they look like Tribbles) or how he can get out of doing Digger’s homework for him forever.
When a girl asks Marley to be her partner for a group project, he thinks his brain may implode! Between that, running away from the bullies (every day!), and worrying about the Rialto’s future, he might not make it to 8th grade!
Whether this is your first visit to Rancho Rosetta Junior High or you just wondered what happened to Marley after Sanford Wong Flunks Big-Time, you’ll have a blast reading his Captain’s Log as the school year goes by at Warp Speed.
