Two of a Kind

Girls really test each other sometimes to see how much power they can wield. In this story Julisa and Anna are friends. They are two of a kind. Julisa is smart and doesn't hesitate to volunteer to answer in class when the teacher asks "who knows what an experiment is." But, Kayla and Melanie make fun of Julisa and her glasses when Julisa gives her very correct answer. Melanie and Kayla would much rather be braiding each other's hair. Now Anna has a choice to make. Is she going to turn her back on Julisa too? It's a true and very familiar test. This is a great read aloud to begin a discussion in a classroom about treating others as you would want to be treated.
