Oh, why did Mrs. Perkins have to assign a project on patriotism. Patriotism isn't like crocodiles or spaceships. You can't see patriotism so you can't draw it. Caleb is struggling to come up with an idea for the project. Tomorrow night all the parents are going to show up at school for Parents' Night and everyone has to have a patriotism project all finished and ready to share for the special celebration.

Everyone seems to have the perfect idea of what to do except for Caleb. Caleb is starting to hope for a cold or a broken leg so he won't have to show up. He just can't think of anything good like the papier mache Liberty Bell or dressing up like the Statue of Liberty. Plus his Dad won't be coming anyway since he's far away serving his country in uniform. But when Parents' Night arrives, Caleb does have a patriotism project and his project is so special it makes everyone stop. Ages 6-9
