A rusty wok that's missing a handle rolls into the life of the Zhang family in China one day and their young son, Ming, who has been sent to market, decides to trade his eggs for it. You see he hears the wok sing to him and he realizes it has magical powers. The Zhang family is very poor and does not have much food or toys for their Chinese New Year celebration. But their lives are about to change for the better and all because of the wisdom of a wok. The little wok runs away to the rich man's house where there are plenty of food and toys and gold coins. The coins have been stolen from the people of China. This is a folktale that centers on the power of sharing as it brings this Chinese custom to our children through vibrant illustrations. 32 pages Ages 5-9
