The Last Full Measure

This fictional account of the Battle of Gettysburg centers on Tacy Stryker and her family’s involvement in the Civil War and this particular battle. Her father and two brothers are in the Union army and her brother David remains at home because of a twisted leg he got from an accident, which has made him bitter and angry. Tacy is by turns bratty, spirited, compassionate, and feisty and she cannot understand why her brother David is treating her so poorly when they used to get along so well. Actual events of the four-day battle are given life in the story of Tacy’s, her family’s, and her friends’ lives as they try to survive in the middle of a major battle, which lends the novel authenticity. This will appeal to fans of historical fiction.
