After the events in Greece, The Spook, Tom and Alice are eager to return home. However, soldiers have overrun the area and the trio finds their house in Chippenden in ruins. All ofthe Spook’s written knowledge has been destroyed and the boggart that protected the home has fled. With no other choice and those like themselves hunted, they travel across the water to the island of Mona. Unfortunately, Mona’s inhabitants are not exactly welcoming of outsiders and it doesn’t take long for accusations of witchcraft to be flung about. Indeed, the island is run by a powerful shaman, Lord Barrule, who controls an ancient and unspeakable evil power. And power attracts, for the Spook’s old enemy and Alice’s aunt, Bony Lizzie has risen again and is poised to remove Barrule and snatch that power for herself. If she does, the bone witch would be near unstoppable. With the Spook demoralized by the loss of his home and library, it is up to Tom and Alice to defeat the wicked witch and the fierce power hidden on Mona. Along the way, the two discover friends and awaken old enemies. Can a half trained apprentice spook and a former witch defeat Bony Lizzie and the ancient power within?
