************

What a lovely book!

There seems to be a formula for independent readers these days.  They are sparkly confections centered on unicorns and fairies and friendship.  There's an energy to them that probably looks to appeal to the "popcorn brain" generation.  The concept being it's got to be bright and bold and it's got to move, move, move or else our independent readers won't stick with them to the end of the story.

So now it's time to meet Wally and Bo.  These two friends are community helpers - they deliver the mail. You remember mail, right?  Their route takes them through the forest and also takes them through unexpected and gentle everyday moments of connecting with neighbors and even helping out when the critters could use an extra paw or two.

Sweetness delivered at a steady, reassuring, fun pace.  There are chapters!  There is suspense.  There is a rush of gratitude and friendship.  There is an underlying theme that we are all connected throughout our community whether we live on top of a mountain or deep in a cave.  Friends are there for us.  We make the world a better place by giving to others when they need us.

What a delightful, gentle adventure.  You can make this your bedtime story to read again and again. You can sit down with this one at 4:30 in the afternoon when everyone is starting to fall apart and enjoy this one together.  It's a slow down giggle of a book!  Enjoy!
