The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls

This is my go-to book for young girls when someone asks for a book on puberty. You want the facts but not too much information and this one has a nice balance. We aThere looking at the body and all of its important parts from hands to breasts to the private areas and then there are all those feelings going on inside that are so important to talk about too. Keeping yourself clean is of the utmost importance and being careful about sharing brushes and combs.

How do you get gum out of your hair and when should you start wearing deodorant? Then, how do you take on skin care, nail care, getting your first bra, and of course, we all come in different sizes and shapes so there's talk about small breasts and large breasts and bodies of all types. The most important thing is to find out you are normal and a great you. Some people develop early and some people take their time. It's all good. The books also goes into eating disorders and starting your period with all the things to learn about how to choose pads or tampons or what will work best for you. I really value the normal voice of this book that gives good information in a way girls can handle. 104 pages Ages 8-13
