The Adventures of the Bailey School Kids, No. 17: Elves Don’t Wear Hard Hats

Men from the Bell Construction Company come to Bailey School. They are very short. Hollis Bell is the boss. He wears a bright green construction hat and work boots so old and thin that the toes curl up. Hammers, screwdrivers, and pliers hang from a tool belt around his waist. He is just a little taller than Melody. The Bell Construction Company is going to build them the best playground you can imagine, but Hollis Bell warns them not to go near their trailer. Eddie is determined to find out what’s in their trailer but he doesn’t get the chance. Strange things happen and the kids begin to wonder if Hollis Bell really could be an elf!
