"The earth changes, Grandpa said, as he planted this garden. Like us it lives, it grows." Grandpa also says that "a part of it never dies. Everything and everyone goes on and on." This is the story of a young African American girl who has lost her grandpa. He was very much a part of her life and she knows him well through his garden. The grief is fresh and the whole family is gathering to honor the man who has just passed on. But, even in his death, he has left her a gift. It's the gift of knowing that she will always have a part of him and she will go on and on carrying the memory of this special man in her heart.
