Stella Batts, Book 2: Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

“Your sister says, “Hey, that’s gum in your hair!” And then she says she’ll go wake up your parents so they can help get it out, but you’re not supposed to wake up your parents before 8:00 a.m. on weekends unless it’s an emergency. Besides you don’t want your parents to know about the gum because then they’ll figure out you chewed it after bedtime, which is also not allowed.”

Stella Batts’ father brings home a new kind of gum they are making at the family candy store. Stella watches her sister be an official taster and wow, the gum seems to make all kinds of wishes come true.  But for Stella things don't go quite the way she hopes.     Stella knows she is not to chew gum before bed, but does anyway and instead of a magical wish come true she gets a huge wad gets stuck in her hair.  Now, she has to deal with her new hair cut and she finds her best friend, Willa, has some bad news to share.  Will this Glow in the Dark Gum bring her anything magical?   137 pages  Ages 5-8  978-1585361915
