Someone Named Eva

Milada's birthday is wonderful. She gets a telescope and even has a cake, in these days of no sugar and no money in Czechoslovakia under Nazi domination. But, that same night, soldiers storm into her home, and her life, as she has known it, completely changes. Milada has beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes. She is a perfect candidate for the Lebensborn Center in Poland where girls are being taken and prepared to make a better Germany. Her name is changed. She can no longer speak her own language. Every trace of who she was is stripped away except for her grandmother's pin and the powerful words her grandmother gave to her. 200 pages Ages 10-13
