Imagine the sound of rain on a tin roof in Nepal. The tin roof isn't yours, however, because your family can't afford something so fine. That is the world of 13-year-old Lakshmi. When her father gambles away the family savings, he decides to sell Lakshmi. Lakshmi is told she will be a maid in a big city in India, and she will make money for her family. She dutifully follows a woman on the long trek only to learn when she arrives at their final destination, that she is caught in a web of deceit and will be forced into prostitution.
