It's fun to pick up a book and discover you are in the hands of an author who really "gets" home to build rhymes for kids. This is one of those books. Yes, sleepy sheepy is going for the first sleepover with the grandsheep. Yes we can all predict what is not going to happen- sleeping.

What we delightfully cannot predict is how entertaining the rhymes that await us are going to be. "What's the matter, my little curly-whirly?" Yes, and there's more where that came from. Such empathy, such compassion, such love for the little lamb. A romp for sure but big doses of what every little lamb needs - reassurance, comfort and people who understand how he feels and know how to help.

At first, Sleepy Sheepy didn't want to go to bed and had a hundred reasons why he should stay up. Now, it is time for his first sheep-over with Grammy and Grampy, but although he has been waiting for the Big Night for a while and he is very excited and full of anticipation of what they might do, it's not quite the same when reality hits. Everything feels a bit different - the blankets scratch, his pyjamas don't match and even though he loves his grandparents, his tummy gets twisty and his eyes get misty.

This is such a familiar story for parents and grandparents so it is lucky we know just what to do...

One to have on hand whenever the little ones are going/coming to visit - as well as a copy of a favourite story, perhaps even the one shared in the book itself so your little ones will really relate.
