Eleven-year-old Noi loves watching her grandmother paint the silk umbrellas they will sell at the market in their Thai village. She is thrilled when Kun Ya allows her to paint her own pictures. However, father no longer has his land to farm as it has all been sold for new houses. Noi's mother can no longer sell many of the mosquito nets she makes. Everything is changing and now to help support the family, Noi's fifteen-year-old sister has to work in a radio factory. Will Noi have to give up her dream of painting and follow in her sister's footsteps? 144 pages
