Andrew Bean has superpowers.  He can hear, see, smell, you name it... better than anyone on the planet.  When a doctor finally figured out what was going on with Andrew, he offered him the chance to work with a super secret organization called H.E.R.O.   There are six members and all of them are middle schoolers with amazing abilities.

They are all sidekicks to superheroes.  Andrew's problem is that his superhero, The Titan, never shows up.  As the story opens, Andrew and his friend, Jenna, also a sidekick, are dangling over a swimming pool filled with hydrochloric acid.  Slowly, ever so slowly, they are being lowered in the direction of a certain death.

Will anyone be able to save them?  Not the police and the EMTs who are holding back the spectators.  Not the Titan who never, ever shows up.

But something is wrong in superhero land.  Someone is trying to get at The Titan and to lure him out into the open, sidekicks begin to disappear.

Tension, suspense and the everyday life of a middle school boy weave together in this funny and action-packed story that reveals the superhero in all of us.
