“Would somebody explain to me where I am?”
“Wilsons,” Les said. “I told you.”
“But what is Wilsons?” Danny felt his voice rising.
“An academy of the devious arts,” Brunholm said.
With this exchange Danny begins to find out where he has been dropped off by
the taxi driver. In this first book of the Ring of Five trilogy the reader is introduced
to the occupants of Wilsons as well as the underworld in which it is located. This
fantasy world is filled with conflicting loyalties, spies, intrigue, and a contest for
control of both the under and upper world (our world).
Pulled between the friendships and loyalty he feels toward Wilsons and the
power offered to him by the Ring, Danny must pick between good and evil if
he can figure out which group represents which quality or if there is a clear line
between the two.
While not perfectly written, this series will gather fans among tweens and early
teens. Lots of action and adventure is mixed with a fast paced story telling. A
perfect series for those who liked Percy Jackson, Charlie Bone, The Mysterious
Benedict Society, Artemis Fowl or the Nightmare Academy series; Cherub series by Muchamore
Sequels: Ghost Road; Unknown Spy
