Nine-year-old Noah has moved to the prairie of Colorado with his family. It's 1880. Noah loves his life on the prairie, feeding the chickens, killing the snakes, and keeping the fire lit on the hearth. Now, his Aunt Dora has come, and she's supposed to teach him to read. Noah is angry. He doesn't need to read on the prairie. Then, Aunt Dora asks Noah to take her out onto the prairie in her wheelchair and show her around. As they go, Aunt Dora looks around her and asks questions. Then, for the answers she looks in the book on her lap. Aunt Dora can read the prairie. If Noah can learn to read, he can travel even beyond the prairie. 48 pages Ages 5-9
