Prairie Friends

Prairie Friends

Betsy lives in the middle of wide open spaces and a cabin and a family. It's a wonderful life but she has a problem. There are no other girls her age anywhere near her home so she has no one to play with. Pa loves to fiddle and Ma makes berry pies and the family gets together for a husking bee with the neighbors but Betsy sits alone making a flower necklace. Then, one day, word comes that new neighbors will be moving in. They meet the Mr. Fitzroy who tells them his wife and daughter, Emmaline, will be joining him as soon as he can get a house made for them. Betsy is excited and decides to make her new friend a cornhusk doll. But Emmaline is a city girl and she has a hard time adjusting to her new world. It will be up to Betsy to make her feel at home. 64 pages Ages 6-9 An I Can Read Book
