Meet Lin. Her parents have just given her the most wonderful gift: a baby dragon to have for her very own pet! She and her dragon are going to play soccer and hide and seek. Then one day they have an accident together. In the middle of their game they break a lamp. Lin's parents are not happy and they lock her dragon up in its cage. No more playing. But, in the morning her dragon is not in the cage. Where could he be? LIn sets forth on a journey determined to find her friend. One of the magical parts of this book is that it shows children the Chinese characters for different words as it goes along. The words are incorporated into the pictures so young readers can see the shape of a mountain and the shape of the Chinese character for mountain at the same time. This is a great way to teach young readers about Chinese folklore and characters. 40 pages
