Ottoline and the Yellow Cat

Whenever I have a parent tell me they need a chapter book with lots of pictures, I think of the wonderful books by Chris Riddell and this series in particular. Meet Ottoline whose parents are away traveling the world. She lives with a guardian who resembles Cousin ITT from the Adams Family. These two are dedicated detectives, donning the trenchcoat and seeking the truth when a slew of lapdogs go missing. The extra special ingredient in this series is the quantity of enlightening and entertaining black and white drawings that accompany the text. The combination make for a quick yet resonant read.
