Night Tree

A powerhouse author and illustrator work together to create one of my favorite Christmas stories! Family traditions are so important in binding us together, and, in this story, this family has a tradition of going out to the forest on Christmas Eve to find their tree. Once there, they take turns decorating the tree with simple things such as tangerines and popcorn and apples. They’ve worked hard to create the edible ornaments. Then they walk home and imagine the wonder of the animals as they celebrate their own Christmas in the forest with the bounty that has been created for them by this family. When sometimes the holidays seem to have lost some of their meaning, this is a gem.
