I give this book zero stars, even though I put one (zero wasn't allowed as a choice). Cringed when my first grader brought it home from school and was assigned to read the second chapter, which used the words "hate", "stupid" and "dumb" freely, and sometimes in reference to the teacher. I know that many kids and families may find this funny, but none of these words are allowed or encouraged in our home, and I definitely didn't want them encouraged in school. So many more positive choices out there for first grade reading. Myndi B.
